Surgical Outreach for the Americas is a nonprofit organization that provides surgical services to the under served in the developing countries of North, Central and South America.
Since 2009, we’ve travelled to countries that are among the world’s poorest populations. Founded by Brent Matthews MD and Peggy Frisella RN, Sofa organizes small teams of U.S. medical professionals to evaluate patients, perform surgical procedures, and arrange for local follow up care.
Help poor men, women and children recover from ailments that are obstacles to working and independent living. Farmers, day laborers, and school age children that need simple surgeries experience significant economic and social consequences when they are unable to find needed surgical care.
