Description: Two to three senior General Surgery residents at Washington University will have the opportunity each year to participate in a 2 month experience at Mzuzu Central Hospital in Mzuzu, Malawi, a town with a population of 130 thousand.
The goal of this elective surgical rotation is to improve access to quality surgical care in Northern Malawi (Mzuzu Central being the primary hospital to provide care for over 2 million Malawians) while providing the surgical trainee with an exceptional rural and international General Surgery experience under the guidance and supervision of senior surgeons.
