Sonsonate, El Salvador – Hospital Agape

SOfA’s First Surgical Mission to Sonsonate, El Salvador

SOfA recently completed its first surgical mission trip to Hospital Agape in Sonsonate, El Salvador, and what an incredible week it was.

With a team of 17 dedicated healthcare professionals, this mission marked the beginning of a new partnership and an opportunity to serve a wonderful community. Entering a new environment always comes with challenges, new systems to learn, new surroundings to navigate, and new relationships to build, but our team embraced every moment with compassion, teamwork, and determination.

During our week in Sonsonate, the team successfully completed 53 surgical procedures, helping patients who otherwise may not have had access to the care they needed. Beyond the surgeries themselves, what made this mission truly special was the warmth and kindness shown by the patients, hospital staff, and local community. Their hospitality and gratitude left a lasting impact on every member of the team.

We are incredibly proud of how cohesive, hardworking, and supportive this group was throughout the trip. Every individual played an important role in making this mission a success.
